Blog Journal #1

     Hi everyone! My name is Grace and I am from St. Petersburg, FL. I am a junior majoring in Information Communication and Technology (ICT), and I also have an education minor. I currently work at Chick-fil-a, so definitely say hi if you see me! I also have a cat named Luna, she is 7 years old and the light of my life.

    My prior experience with technology in an educational setting mostly includes utilizing the computer lab. At all of the schools I attended growing up, there was a computer lab, as well as laptops, that students had access to. I also was able to use SMART board technology throughout my education. I am very familiar with educational sites like Canvas and myFSU. I have also gained a lot of experience with programming softwares such as Visual Studio Code, mySQL, and Android Studio through my major. I am the Historian for my honors fraternity so I have also become familiar with Canva through designing flyers and social media posts.

    My Personal Learning network is largely based on social media. I consume much of my information such as news stories and social/political movements through social media. I use sites such as Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Facebook. Offline I learn a lot of stuff through discussions with my roommates and friends. I also stay informed about local service projects and campaigns through my honors fraternity.

I have enjoyed my time in EME2040. I have found the coursework to be entertaining and useful. I am in an asynchronous section. I have enjoyed being able to complete assignments throughout the week at my own pace. The only thing I dislike is that I miss the in-person environment, however, I do not think it is necessary for this course. When I am a teacher I think implementing a class blog to provide updates for my students and their parents will improve the classroom experience. Blog Journal #4

       The standard that I chose from the ELA standards was the first one for second grade. This standard essentially means to use knowledge from images and text in a physical or online format of text to show understanding of the text's characters, setting, and plot. I feel prepared to implement this standard based on my current skill set. I have relatively good reading comprehension skills. I am also quite good at analyzing and interpreting images and illustrations because I have taken art classes all my life. I have also taken two different courses during my time at FSU that have challenged me to interpret various works of art such as films, books, and paintings.     I selected the second grade Art section of the CPALMS Educator Toolkit. Blog Journal #6

      My initial experiences using Diigo have been positive. It is a helpful tool in regards to sharing articles and resources. I have found it is helpful for myself, because I have a place to store bookmarks that are specific to this course. I also think it is very helpful to be able to see the resources that my classmates are using for this course.      My experiences with blogging have been that it is very helpful for explaining my thoughts. It is a nice way to just write down my thoughts and share them. I like that blogging does not have to fit a certain format and you can write about whatever you would like to. In regards to this course, I have enjoyed getting to read my classmates' blogs each week.
